TaoGraph introduces Chinese philosophical and cultural traditions to beginners. This page explains what we draw from, what we interpret, how the tools work, and where the limits are.
01 · METHODOLOGY
Four kinds of information, kept separate.
A traditional quotation, a modern explanation, a calculated result, and an AI response do not carry the same authority. TaoGraph labels these layers so readers can judge each one on its own terms.
Modern interpretation
How TaoGraph or a named interpreter explains that material for a present-day reader.
Rule-based calculation
What documented code produces from defined inputs, settings, and calendar rules.
AI explanation
Generated language based on approved source material and structured, allowlisted data.
02 · SOURCES AND REVIEW
Claims should lead back to something you can inspect.
We prefer primary texts in reputable editions, followed by peer-reviewed scholarship, university-press work, and material from museums, libraries, universities, and cultural institutions.
Quotes stay attached to an edition.
Classical quotations name the text and translation used. Paraphrases are not presented as direct quotations.
Interpretation is named.
When an explanation is TaoGraph's synthesis or a modern adaptation, the page should say so.
Disagreement stays visible.
Translation choices, calendar conventions, and practice-specific interpretations are not flattened into one answer when the difference matters.
High-risk material needs human review.
Historical claims, classical translations, personal interpretation templates, and sensitive topics are not approved by AI alone.
Corrections change the record.
Material corrections should update the affected page, related tools, and the project decision log where the method or terminology changes.
03 · CULTURAL CONTEXT
Eastern Wisdom does not mean every tradition is the same.
The brand uses Eastern Wisdom as a broad invitation. The current editorial focus is Chinese philosophical and cultural traditions, and each page should name the specific text, practice, period, or school when that context matters.
Origins remain visible.
Original characters, pronunciation, historical setting, and translation choices are kept alongside plain-language explanations where useful.
Traditions are not interchangeable.
Philosophical Taoism, religious Taoist traditions, medicine, divination, calendar systems, and modern self-development are distinct contexts.
Traditional does not mean scientifically proven.
Cultural and philosophical value is not presented as proof of a physical or medical mechanism.
Modern use is labeled as modern use.
Reflection prompts and contemporary applications are editorial material. They are not passed off as ancient quotations or timeless consensus.
04 · AI USE
AI can help explain. It cannot act as an oracle or a source.
TaoGraph may use AI to improve clarity, organize reviewed material, or turn approved structured data into qualified prose. Generated output remains bounded by sources, terminology, safety rules, and human review.
AI may
- Explain approved concepts in accessible language.
- Draft interface copy or non-personal reflection questions for review.
- Summarize reviewed TaoGraph material.
- Explain allowlisted fields from a rule-based result.
AI may not
- Predict events, health, wealth, relationships, or legal outcomes.
- Calculate Four Pillars from raw birth data as the authoritative method.
- Invent quotations, lineages, citations, history, or facts about a person.
- Publish foundational or high-risk material without human approval.
05 · PRIVACY
Collect less, keep less, explain what is needed.
The current public site does not require a TaoGraph account or ask for birth details. It saves your language choice in your browser so the next page can use the same language.
Birth data should stay temporary by default.
Future chart tools should calculate without saving raw birth details whenever feasible and should not place those details in ordinary logs or analytics.
AI should receive less personal data.
A structured chart with identifying details removed should be used instead of sending a raw birth date, place, or personal history when it is sufficient.
Saving requires a separate choice.
Accounts, saved profiles, and shareable results are not part of the current public version. They require explicit consent, deletion rules, retention limits, and a new privacy review before launch.
Sensitive details do not belong in routine diagnostics.
Errors and performance records should use non-sensitive warning codes and version information rather than raw personal inputs.
06 · DISCLAIMER
Use TaoGraph for learning and reflection, not certainty.
TaoGraph presents historical, philosophical, cultural, and interpretive material for general education. Traditions and translations vary, and a visual model can clarify an idea without proving it scientifically.
No fortune-telling promise
Charts, phases, cycles, and AI explanations do not guarantee events, determine identity, prove compatibility, or rank a person as lucky or doomed.
No professional advice
The site is not medical care, therapy, legal counsel, financial advice, or a substitute for an appropriately qualified professional.
No fixed personal verdict
Traditional frameworks may offer themes for reflection. They do not remove uncertainty, context, personal judgment, or human agency.
Methods have limits
Calculations depend on documented settings and conventions. Where those choices can change an output, TaoGraph should show them rather than hide them.
